The Person Behind Zero Sugar Bites

About Isty

Hi, I’m Isty. And this blog exists because my life changed in two ways at once. I became a father, and I was diagnosed with diabetes. if you’re here, there’s a good chance we have something in common.

Cooking taught by fatherhood, not culinary school

How This All Started

Two things happened to me around the same time. My wife got pregnant. And I found out I had diabetes. I’m not going to pretend I was one of those people who loved cooking.

I wasn’t. I barely knew my way around a kitchen. But when you become a father and find out your blood sugar is out of control at the same time, you start paying attention to what you put on the table.

So I started cooking. Not because I was passionate about it. Because I had to. And somewhere along the way, it stopped feeling like a chore and started feeling like something I actually cared about.

Why Sugar-Free

When I got diagnosed, I did what most people do. I went online and searched for diabetic-friendly recipes. What I found was honestly disappointing. Most of the recipes were either too complicated, too expensive, or just not something a real busy person would actually make. A lot of them didn’t even taste good.

I didn’t want to eat boring food for the rest of my life. And I didn’t want my family sitting around a table eating food that felt like a punishment. So I started experimenting in my own kitchen. Simple meals. Less sugar. Real ingredients that you can actually find at a normal grocery store. Food that a busy person can realistically put together after a long day at work.

That’s how Zero Sugar Bites was born.

This is where it all happens. Nothing fancy, just real food.

This is my kitchen. Nothing special about it honestly. No professional equipment, no fancy gadgets, just a regular home kitchen like yours. This is where I spend my early mornings and late evenings figuring out recipes that actually work for a busy life with diabetes.

Every single recipe you see on this blog was tested right here, in this kitchen, by a dad who just wanted to feed his family better. If it works here, it will work in your kitchen too. I promise you that.

Who I Made This Blog For

I Want to Be Honest, I am not a doctor. I’m not a dietitian. I don’t have any formal nutrition qualifications. I am just a dad who is living with diabetes and trying to cook better food for his family. Everything on this blog comes from my own experience and my own kitchen. I genuinely care about the people who read this and I want the recipes to actually help you.

I think about a few different people when I write here. The working woman who wants to eat healthier but doesn’t have an hour to spend in the kitchen every night. The person newly diagnosed with diabetes who is overwhelmed and doesn’t know where to start. The busy parent trying to feed their family better without making it a whole production.

If any of that sounds like you, then this blog was made with you in mind.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you follow a specific diet like keto or low carb?

Not strictly. I focus on cutting sugar and keeping carbs reasonable, but I don’t label it. I just cook food that keeps my blood sugar stable and actually tastes good.

Where do you get your nutrition information for the recipes?

I calculate nutrition details using trusted food databases and recipe tools. I always recommend double checking with your dietitian since everyone’s body responds differently.

Are your recipes safe for both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes?

Most of my recipes are designed to be low sugar and blood sugar friendly. But diabetes is very personal. What works for me may need adjusting for you, so always check with your doctor first.

How often do you post new recipes?

I post a new sugar-free recipe every week. The best way to never miss one is to subscribe to the newsletter so it comes straight to you.

Can people without diabetes also cook and enjoy your recipes?

Absolutely. A lot of my readers are simply trying to eat less sugar and live healthier. You don’t need to have diabetes to enjoy food that is simple, real and good for you.

A New Recipe Every Week

I share a new sugar-free recipe every single week. The best way to keep up is to subscribe to the newsletter so the recipes come straight to you. No spam. Just food. If you ever want to reach out, ask a question, or just say hi, the contact page is always open. I read every message myself.
